Het Veem Barrel-chip #3 represents an ambitious experiment by Brouwerij het Veem in Eindhoven. From a single 2000-litre batch of base beer, five distinct variants emerged, each shaped by different barrel and wood chip treatments. This is the third expression: a full-bodied barleywine at 10% ABV where yeast, hop and malt flavours take the lead. The glass reveals a complex profile with ripe fruit, banana from fermentation, and pronounced wood and peat notes from barrel aging. The combination of a robust malt foundation and oak texture delivers depth without heaviness. A beer for those curious how the same base can develop in multiple directions.
