De Stadspoorten from Brouwerij Eanske in Enschede is an Imperial Porter named after the two historic city gates that once guarded the town. Launched in June 2016, this robust dark beer is celebrated for its chocolate-forward character. The aroma reveals notes of milk chocolate, burnt bread and caramel. The palate is driven by roasted malt with pronounced chocolate flavours, though the taste fades relatively quickly for some drinkers. The finish closes with a firm bitterness. Brouwerij Eanske, rooted in the heart of Enschede, ceased production in 2023 and closed permanently in 2025. De Stadspoorten remains a testament to the brewery's distinctive and surprising approach to local brewing.
