Double Barrel Ale is the beer that started it all for Firestone Walker. Founded in 1996 by two brothers-in-law in a shed on a California vineyard, the brewery built its reputation on this barrel-fermented flagship. Part of the fermentation takes place in oak using Firestone's signature Union barrel system, giving DBA its distinctive character. This amber-coloured ale presents a spicy, herbal hop aroma with hints of dark cherry and a sweet backdrop of caramel and toffee. The palate shows grassy, herbal bitterness balanced against malt sweetness and a rounded mouthfeel. The finish is clean and well-defined, bridging the beer's fruit and malt elements without overstaying its welcome.
