Pohjala Kamin
Põhjala Kamin is an Imperial Porter from Tallinn, Estonia, brewed by the pioneering Estonian brewery founded in 2011. This robust beer (11% ABV) belongs to the Cellar Series and is matured for 6 to 24 months in bourbon, cognac, sherry and tequila barrels.
The nose reveals rich smoked malts with vinous cognac notes and hints of plum and raspberry jam. On the palate, sweet red fruits meet an iodine-like salinity reminiscent of a campfire on Islay's beaches. Winter spices and clove add complexity, rounded out by vinous tannins that frame the experience.
The finish leaves roasted cocoa and raisins, supported by the warming 11% alcohol. This is a full-bodied, silky smooth beer that balances the depth of dark malt with the influence of its varied barrel aging.
