Brouwerij de Kneiter's Gieter Pater is a cherished Belgian Strong Dark Ale that matures beautifully in wood. This barrel-aged expression spent 435 days across two distinct casks: first in a barrel previously used for Ledaig beer, then in an ex-Moscatel cask that held peated rum from Dutch distillery Schotman. Schotman has been producing a patented peated rum since 2021, combining smoke and sweetness in an unconventional way. The marriage of the full, dark beer with the cask's layered influences—peat smoke, Moscatel fruit, and oak—builds a sophisticated, warming character at 13% ABV.
