Cobra is a lager founded in 1989 by Karan Bilimoria, created to address a gap in the market: Indian lagers were too gassy, traditional ales too bitter and heavy. The answer was a smoother, less gassy alternative brewed from malted barley, rice, maize, wheat and three hop varieties. On the palate, Cobra delivers a clean, refreshing lager character with malt sweetness and grain notes. The finish is dry and slightly bitter, providing structure without heaviness. It has become the signature beer of Indian restaurants worldwide, where its crisp profile complements spiced food and cuts through heat without overwhelming the palate.
