Barrel Hazard is a Russian Imperial Stout from vandeStreek brewery in Utrecht, matured in bourbon casks. At 14.7% ABV, this powerful beer represents a deliberate contrast: the brewers paired the intensity of an imperial stout with the warmth and sweetness of bourbon, a combination they found works exceptionally well.

The nose reveals dark chocolate and coffee, classic stout markers, complemented by vanilla and oak from the bourbon aging. On the palate, the full, sweet body emerges with subtle smokiness, while the bourbon gradually comes through. The finish is warming and boozy with a dry, sharp edge that cuts the sweetness.
