Weldebräu produces this Helles in Plankstadt, within the Kurpfalz region near Heidelberg. It is a traditionally bottom-fermented lager brewed with Hallertau Tradition and Select hops, pale in colour and crisp in character.

The flavour is dry and grain-forward, with subtle floral hop notes and a hint of bread. The beer shows restraint in sweetness and bitterness, which is hallmark of a well-executed Helles. The finish is clean and refreshing.

This is a solid representative of the Kurpfalz brewing tradition, where over a century ago more than a dozen breweries were active in the region.
