Vitus
Weihenstephaner Vitus is a strong wheat bock from Bayerische Staatsbrauerei Weihenstephan, the world's oldest brewery, situated on the grounds of the former Weihenstephan Abbey in Bavaria. This weizenbock stands out for its full body and smooth, effervescent mouthfeel despite its robust 7.4% ABV.
The nose greets you with ripe banana, dried apricots, and citrus aromas, joined by clove spice and yeasty notes. On the palate, more of that characteristic ripe banana emerges, alongside hints of fresh wheat bread, yeasty character, and lightly caramelized malt. The finish is clean and dry, with lingering banana and spice.
Vitus is no typical bock beer: it retains the fruity, noble character of a wheat beer, making it an excellent match for red meat and strong cheeses.
