Xyauyù Fumè 2014 from Birra Baladin is a full-strength Barleywine at 14% ABV, aged for twelve months in peated Scottish beer barrels from Islay. This is a rich, viscous beer where smoky barrel character takes centre stage alongside complex malt sweetness.

The aroma weaves together licorice, warmth and peat smoke from the barrel aging. On the palate, decadent malty sweetness meets persistent smokiness and woody notes, with a slightly medicinal edge. The finish is long and lingering, coated with dark fruit and barrel influence.

This is a contemplative sipper designed for slow appreciation. The full body and oily mouthfeel create a warming, sophisticated experience best enjoyed on its own or with rich food.
