Duchesse de Bourgogne
Duchesse de Bourgogne from Brouwerij Verhaeghe is a Flanders Red Ale of mixed fermentation, named in honour of Mary of Burgundy. This classic combines young top-fermented beer with spontaneously fermented and matured beer, creating a complex, balanced ale.
Brewed with roasted malts and low-bitterness hops, the beer matures in oak barrels where it develops fruity and sour characteristics. The result is a sweet-fruity ale with a pleasant fresh aftertaste, supported by red fruit notes, cherry tones and subtle oak character.
At 6.2% ABV, Duchesse de Bourgogne strikes a refined balance between tartness and fruitiness, finishing with a soft, dry conclusion.
