Necessary Evil is an imposing bourbon barrel-aged imperial stout from Thornbridge Brewery in Bakewell, Derbyshire. This powerful beer (13% ABV) matured for eight months in bourbon casks, resulting in a rich, layered expression built entirely on a base of malted grain.

The aroma unfolds with sweet bourbon, vanilla and oak, layered with dark chocolate and coffee notes. On the palate, velvety roasted malts meet chocolate, caramel and subtle vanilla. Despite its strength, the alcohol warmth is balanced and barely perceptible within the overall profile.
