Pannepot Old Fisherman's Ale 2013
Pannepot Old Fisherman's Ale 2013 by De Struise Brouwers is a Belgian Strong Dark Ale named after the fishing boats that once worked the waters near the village of De Panne. Brewed with barley, wheat, oats and a touch of Belgian candi sugar, this vintage release stands at 10% ABV and delivers a creamy, full-bodied experience.
The nose reveals roasted malt, dark stone fruits, plum and fig, with restrained spice notes. On the palate, rich caramel and molasses character mingles with dark chocolate and fruitcake complexity. Subtle spice cuts through the sweetness without dominating. The finish is warm and smooth, with no sharp edges.
A contemplative beer that rewards patience. The alcohol integrates seamlessly, making this a surprisingly approachable strong ale despite its weight.
