Shock top
Shock Top Belgian White is an American witbier launched by Anheuser-Busch in 2006 as a seasonal release. It is not a traditional Belgian wheat ale but a mass-market interpretation designed for broad appeal. The beer is brewed with wheat malt, barley, and a blend of citrus peels—lemon, lime and orange—plus coriander for spice.
The flavour profile is mild and restrained. Banana and bubblegum dominate the aroma, a signature of the ale yeast used. The taste follows a similar path, with subtle citrus and spice notes. The finish is clean and dry, without the complexity found in authentic Belgische witbieren. At 5.2% ABV and just 10 IBUs, this is a light, low-bitterness beer positioned as an approachable escape from heavier styles.
