SNAB IJsbok
SNAB IJsbok is a robust Eisbock from Purmerend, brewed by Stichting Noordhollandse Alternatieve Bierbrouwers. The beer draws inspiration from Gerrit de Veer's 1597 Nova Zembla voyage account 'Om de Noord', which vividly chronicles the extreme cold of the Arctic north. SNAB recreates the traditional freezing process to craft this distinctive beer.
The nose reveals an appealing blend of caramel, chocolate and dried fruit with subtle spice. On the palate, a complex balance emerges: sweet malt notes with raisin and candy sugar are elegantly countered by roasted malts. The beer carries a medium body with warming alcohol presence fitting its 9% ABV.
This is a beer built for cold seasons—substantial enough and flavourful enough to be savoured slowly.
