Pohjala Cocobänger
Cocobänger is an Imperial Stout from Põhjala, the Estonian brewery in Tallinn known for taking established beer styles and reimagining them with surprising ingredients. At 12.5% ABV, this beer marries dark malts with coffee and coconut to create a layered, robust character.
Pour reveals a dark brown body topped with a mocha-hued head. The aroma leads with roasted coffee and pure chocolate, followed by coconut and subtle vanilla notes. On the palate, creamy, dessert-like coconut is met by a wave of earthy Turkish coffee, balanced by plum and blackberry undertones. The interplay between sweet and bitter develops as the beer warms.
The mouthfeel is thick and syrupy, with warming alcohol in the finish. A beer built for contemplation, rewarding patience with layers of chocolate, mocha and roasted complexity.
