Pilsner Urquell
Pilsner Urquell is the original pilsner. In 1842, brewmaster Josef Groll crafted the first golden lager at the Burghers' Brewery in Plzeň, launching a style that would reshape beer worldwide. Today, the brewery remains true to that founding principle, using only Czech ingredients: soft Plzeň water, Saaz hops from Žatec, and undermodified Pilsen malt prepared through triple decoction.
The signature flavour balances malty sweetness with the herbal, peppery bite of Saaz hops. Bread and grain notes shine through, clean and crisp, with a dense foam head. This is the beer that defined a style—refreshing, flavourful, and utterly authentic.
