Isid'or
La Trappe Isid'or is an amber-coloured Trappist ale brewed by De Koningshoeven Abbey in the Netherlands, named after Brother Isidorus, the abbey's first brewer. Created in 2009 to mark the brewery's 125th anniversary, this beer opens with fruity notes before shifting into full, malty caramel flavours and finishing dry and gentle.
The palate reveals dark fruit, raisins and plums, followed by banana, clove and toffee. Brewed with natural ingredients—hop, barley, yeast and spring water from the abbey—and bottle-fermented for continued conditioning, Isid'or develops a distinctive character. At 7.5% ABV with a creamy, medium body, it strikes a balance between approachability and depth, warming without heaviness.
