Val Dieu Grand Cru
Val-Dieu Grand Cru is the flagship of Abbaye Val-Dieu in Aubel, one of the rare abbey beers still brewed within a living monastic community. This dark brown, almost black beer at 10.5% ABV is the fruit of extended fermentation under the brewmaster's careful hand, drawing inspiration from original Cistercian recipes.
Sweet and distinctly fruity on the palate, with layers of dark plum and fig. Dark roasted malts contribute burnt caramel notes and moderate hop bitterness. The beer unfolds with complexity and delivers a very long, lingering finish.
