Goudenband

Liefmans Goudenband is a Flemish Oud Bruin from Oudenaarde, brewed in a tradition dating back to 1679. This 8% beer is crafted by blending twelve-year-aged beer with younger stock, triggering a secondary fermentation that defines the style. The result is a complex, reddish-brown ale with layered character.

Sweet and sour notes intertwine on the palate. Dried fruit, raisins and cherry emerge alongside caramel, nuts and oak. The use of Bordeaux wine yeast and a malt bill of pale, dark caramel and roasted varieties creates the beer's distinctive wine-like and woody undertones. The mouthfeel is dry and silky, with restrained carbonation that provides gentle texture without harshness.

This beer evolves in the glass, revealing new dimensions as it warms. It pairs beautifully with goat cheese and other assertive flavours.
