Klosterbrauerei Weltenburg

Weltenburg Asam Bock

Weltenburg Asam Bock is a Doppelbock from Bavaria, named after the ingenious Baroque architect and painter Cosmas Damian Asam. Brewed by Klosterbrauerei Weltenburg in Kelheim, the brewery traces its brewing heritage to 1050, claiming the title of world's oldest monastery brewery.

This robust beer blends dark barley malts with caramel and colour malts, hopped with Perle for subtle bitterness. The character unfolds with rich malt sweetness, dark dried fruits such as plums and raisins, and hints of coffee and dark chocolate. A light herbal note and faint licorice edge provide balance without cloying.

The body is creamy and soft, with restrained carbonation. The finish is dry and inviting, leaving a lingering warmth that reflects its 7.3% alcohol strength.
