Kirin Ichiban
Kirin Ichiban is a premium Japanese lager from Kirin Brewery Company, founded in 1888 in Yokohama. The beer distinguishes itself through the use of 100% malted barley—no rice or adjuncts—a deliberate choice that sets it apart from many other Japanese lagers. The name 'Ichiban' means 'first press': only the first extraction of wort is used in brewing.
The flavour is clean and refreshing, with a pleasing balance between sweet, malty notes and floral hop bitterness. Honey and lightly toasted malt form the foundation, complemented by subtle floral and grassy character. At 5% ABV, it delivers a crisp, dry finish without heavy tones.
