Isle of Skye Red
Isle of Skye Red is an Irish Red Ale brewed by Isle of Skye Brewing on the Scottish island of Skye. The beer was born from the vision of schoolteacher friends who, in 1992, felt the island deserved quality craft beer. Founded in 1995, the brewery draws on Scottish brewing heritage, using three varieties of malted barley to achieve the signature deep red colour and smooth character.
This ale presents as amber-red with a modest off-white head. The aroma displays sweet malty notes alongside stone fruit and raisin character. On the palate, it is malty and fruity, balanced by restrained hop bitterness from Challenger hops. The finish is clean and dry, letting the malt expression shine through.
