Hertog Jan Grand Prestige Vatgerijpt Aguardente is a limited 2021 edition of this Dutch barleywine, brewed with four different malts. The beer spent twelve months maturing in Portuguese aguardente casks, a potent brandy that imparts distinctive character to the finished beer.

Maturation on aguardente barrels has given the beer burnt, almond-like notes alongside aromas of raisins and coffee. The full, layered palate combines roasted malt with caramel and dark fruit, balanced by pleasant bitterness in the finish.

This was the fourth and final variant of the 2021 Vatgerijpt series, produced in only 38,000 bottles.
