Old Engine Oil Engineer's Reserve
Old Engine Oil Engineer's Reserve from Harviestoun is a robust, dark ale created in response to American drinkers seeking higher alcohol content than the original 6% version. At 9% ABV, this intensely flavoured beer delivers a rich balance of roasted malt, chocolate and sweet character.
The aroma showcases roasted barley, coffee and toffee layered with hints of dark chocolate and liquorice. On the palate, an incredibly thick, creamy mouthfeel carries dominant chocolate flavours alongside coffee and a sweet, fruity undertone. The finish is gently roasted with a restrained bitterness that never overwhelms.
Originally brewed by this Alva-based Scottish brewery as the foundation for their award-winning Ola Dubh, the master brewer found it so compelling that it warranted its own release.
