Hair of the Dog Matt is an American Strong Ale at 12.5% ABV from Hair of the Dog Brewery in Portland. This ambitious beer is brewed only every few years and was originally created to celebrate the tenth anniversary of Bottleworks in 2009.

Matt is crafted from two Munich malts, two smoked malts, and two varieties of Belgian candi sugar, then aged for about one year in Kentucky Bourbon and Apple Eau de Vie barrels. The result is a dark, full-bodied beer with a silky-smooth texture.

The flavour is deep and lush, with distinct notes of apple, chocolate, and smoke. Bourbon and fruit-forward barrel character integrate seamlessly with the roasted grains, creating a complex profile that ages gracefully for years.
