Grutte Pier Vatgerijpt Imperial Stout Cognac is an ambitious project from Grutte Pier Brouwerij in Leeuwarden. A single 2000-litre batch of base beer was divided across different casks, resulting in five distinct variants. This Cognac-aged expression combines the full, complex character of an Imperial Stout with the richness of barrel maturation.

The brewery, founded in 2014 by Frans Filius, Menno Feenstra and Michelle Beerstra, has grown into Friesland's largest craft beer brand. At 11.5% ABV, with layers of vanilla, wood and dark chocolate, this beer delivers a full-bodied, warming experience. The Vatgerijpt series reflects the brewery's experimental approach to barrel-aged stouts.
