Gooische Barley Wine represents an ambitious brewing project by Gooische Bierbrouwerij: a single 2000-litre base recipe split into multiple variants, this one aged in oak barrels previously used for red wine at Betuws Wijndomein. The result is a full-bodied, complex barleywine with considerable depth.

Dried fruit—raisins and currants—leads the aroma and palate, complemented by wood and caramel notes. The wine barrel influence adds subtle port and vanilla character. The beer drinks warm and rich, with a pleasing interplay between sweetness and the style's characteristic bitterness.
