Gageleer

Original

Gageleer Original is a golden blonde ale from Belgium that traces its heritage back to medieval herb beers. Around 1980, a desire to brew beer to historical tastes sparked the creation of this beer, inspired by the Cruydeboeck, a 16th-century herbal by botanist Rembert Dodoens. The name comes from gagel, the Flemish word for bog myrtle or sweet gale – a historic brewing herb.

Brewed with organic ingredients, Gageleer Original balances malty sweetness, fruity character and the distinctive spicy, herbal profile of gale. The nose is vibrant: citrus, grapefruit and spice lead. On the palate, fruity and sweet notes emerge, with subtle bitterness and the characteristic gale flavour that defines this beer's identity.

The finish is dry with lingering herbaceous notes. Medium-bodied with good carbonation, the 7.5% alcohol warms without overwhelming.
