Founders Dirty Bastard
Dirty Bastard is a cornerstone Scotch Ale from Founders Brewing Company in Grand Rapids, first released in 2002 as the vision of head brewer Nate Walser and his assistant (now Brewmaster) Jeremy Kosmicki. Brewed with ten varieties of specialty malts, this beer delivers the malty richness and hop character that define the style.
The nose opens with soft toast, roasted chocolate, and lush dried fruits, layered with toffee sweetness and molasses undertones. On the palate, caramel and dark chocolate meld with espresso notes, while a assertive hop bitterness cuts through the malt sweetness and provides the promised attitude. The finish is complex and lingering, with warming alcohol that belies its 8.5% ABV.
