Cask of the Abyss is an American-style Barley Wine from Dutch Bargain, the Zeeland brewery founded in 2011 by three adventurous brewers. Matured in bourbon barrels—Wild Turkey and Buffalo Trace—this robust ale develops deep caramel and vanilla character alongside dark fruit notes. Full-bodied and complex, it balances a sweet opening with a building, bitter finish that lingers.

The nose carries oak, dark fruit and vanilla from the barrel aging. On the palate, caramel and toffee lead into a vinous, tannin-laced complexity. The finish is dry and assertive, with lingering bitterness. A contemplative sipper, best enjoyed slowly and paired with rich desserts.
