Manke Monnik
Manke Monnik is a Tripel from Amsterdamsche Stoombierbrouwerij De Bekeerde Suster, brewed at the site of a sixteenth-century abbey in Amsterdam. The beer takes its name from a historical Amsterdam figure whose origins remain mysterious.
This Tripel strikes a balance between sweet and spicy character. The nose reveals crisp apple, floral notes and honey. On the palate, caramel, pear and fresh grassy hops emerge, with earthy spice adding complexity. The finish is dry with a light clove note.
At 7.2% ABV, Manke Monnik drinks smoothly and remains well-balanced for the style. The beer earned recognition as most flavorful beer at the pROOSt festival in 2014.
