Baird Saison Sayuri
Saison Sayuri is a seasonal ale from Baird Brewing, the pioneering craft brewery in Numazu, Japan. Named after Sayuri Baird, co-founder of the brewery established in 2000, this beer showcases fresh Aoshima oranges in its composition. The citrus character emerges clearly in the aroma—bright but never aggressive.
The palate reveals a sophisticated blend of spicy rye malt notes alongside fruity hop character and herbal complexity. Citrus appears more subtle in the actual taste, allowing space for the interplay of grain and hops to develop. The finish is crisp and dry, with a balanced bitterness that doesn't overwhelm.
Barid Brewing employs traditional techniques: floor-malted barley, whole flower hops, and naturally captured carbonation. This saison, first brewed in 2007, ranks among Japan's earliest examples of the style.
