Hop-It
Urthel Hop-It is an ambitious Belgian IPA from Microbrouwerij Urthel in Ruiselede. The beer was born from brewer Hildegard's inspiration during a 2005 US trip, where she discovered West Coast IPAs and set out to craft her own hoppy interpretation with a Belgian character.
Pale gold and hazy, the beer wears a creamy white head. The nose offers citrus fruit, sweet honey and mild spice, with earthy hop undertones. On the palate, sweet caramel and floral yeast notes balance against assertive hop bitterness and grassy, herbal flavours. At 9.5% ABV, this is a full-bodied beer best savoured slowly.
The finish is dry and bitter, with a lingering aftertaste. Hop-It demonstrates that strong ale and hop character can coexist in harmony.
