Adriaen Brouwer Oaked
Brouwerij Roman, founded in 1545 in Oudenaarde, crafts this dark brown strong ale in tribute to the seventeenth-century Flemish painter of the same name. Adriaen Brouwer Oaked is an organic beer matured in sherry and beer barrels, yielding a sophisticated and layered character.
The nose presents malt, caramel and dark fruit, complemented by vanilla and wood notes from barrel aging. On the palate, dried figs, raisins, plums and brown sugar emerge, beautifully balanced by a warming alcohol presence. The finish is smooth and lingering, with pleasant wood and fruit echoes.
This organic strong ale is complex and meant to be savored. Despite its 10% ABV, it drinks with surprising approachability and balance, rewarding patience as it opens with warmth.
