Barrel Project #4/2016 is an Imperial Stout from Brouwerij KEES in Middelburg, brewed from a single 2000-litre base batch that was then matured in different barrels. The result is a complex dark beer at 10.5% ABV that exemplifies KEES's philosophy: craftsmanship with attitude.
The nose shows dark malt, cocoa and wood. On the palate, bittersweet cocoa, chocolate and roasted grains lead, with hints of raisin and smoke. Medium to full bodied with fine carbonation and a dry finish marked by lingering bitterness.
