Grand Cru
Hoegaarden Grand Cru is an amber-hued strong ale at 8.5% ABV, brewed in the tradition of Belgium's celebrated witbier house. Launched in 1985, this fuller expression showcases the brewery's mastery of fermentation and spice, stepping beyond the lighter wheat beer for which Hoegaarden is known.
The nose is dominated by Belgian yeast character—prominent banana and vanilla notes with a warm alcohol presence. The palate opens sweet, revealing citrus and tropical fruit alongside bready malt, followed by clove spice that echoes the witbier heritage. Hop bitterness arrives to balance the sweetness, bringing structure.
Smooth and well-integrated, with fine carbonation and a dry finish that lets the alcohol warmth linger. A beer with backbone.
