Straffe Hendrik Heritage 2019
Straffe Hendrik Heritage is an annual limited-edition quadrupel from Brouwerij De Halve Maan in Bruges, Belgium. Brewed each autumn and aged for one year in oak barrels of various origins, it is bottled the following year to create a singular vintage expression.
The barrel maturation imparts deep, layered flavours: vanilla, caramel and toasted oak marry with dark fruits and warm spice notes inherent to the base beer. Tannins from the wood blend seamlessly with the rich character of the specialty malts, creating remarkable complexity.
Capable of ageing up to ten years in bottle, Heritage evolves continuously over time. The 11% alcohol is well integrated, allowing the interplay of oak, fruit and spice to shine through without heat or harshness.
