Boelens Waase Wolf

Waase Wolf from Brouwerij Boelens is a Belgian brown ale at 6.5% ABV, brewed in Belsele. The beer takes its name from a curious episode in 2000–2001, when sheep carcasses were discovered in the Waasland region—a story that captured local media attention and inspired the brewery's creative naming.

This ale blends multiple malt varieties and spices into a balanced whole. The aroma showcases fruity character with notes of banana and apricot, layered with yeasty undertones. On the palate, sweetness and fruit are tempered by light tartness and subtle spice. High carbonation gives the beer a full, rich mouthfeel that carries the flavour through to a lingering finish.

Brouwerij Boelens traces its roots to 1850, when two brewing families—Boelens and De Meester—founded the brewery together. The house remains committed to classical Belgian brewing traditions, of which Waase Wolf is a faithful expression.
