9° Double Port
Broeder Jacob Double Port is an ambitious experiment from the eponymous Tongeren brewery: a dark Belgian Strong Ale infused with genuine tawny port. It claims to be the first Belgian beer to attempt this fusion. The result is a complex, dark brown brew at 9% ABV with unmistakable character.
In the glass, roasted malt, dried fruit and the warm, wine-like notes of port unfold together. Hints of almond, mirabelle and dark chocolate emerge, complemented by caramel and subtle wood notes. The finish is dry and spicy, with a light bitterness that lingers.
This is a contemplative beer for those willing to embrace unconventional flavours and the intersection of beer and fortified wine.
