IJbok
IJbok is a traditional Amsterdam Bock from Brouwerij 't IJ, brewed since 1985 in a converted municipal bathhouse near the city's iconic windmills. This robust beer at 6.5% ABV has a dark brown colour and full body, yet deliberately avoids the excessive sweetness common in other Bocks.
Aromas of roasted grain and a subtle coffee note lead the nose. The palate balances malt and caramel character with moderate bitterness, keeping the sweetness in check. The finish is pleasantly sweet with a light boozy warmth that lingers gently.
Brewed with Amsterdam tap water, barley malt and hops, IJbok delivers the authentic strength of a classic Bock without sacrificing balance.
