Kriekenbier
Strubbe's Kriekenbier is a Flemish red ale from Ichtegem, brewed by a brewery tracing its origins to 1831. This fruit beer centres on sour cherries, built on a foundation of malted barley and unmalted wheat.
The nose presents a spicy, wine-like character with balsamic notes and hints of sour berries. On the palate, cherry emerges with a dry, sharp texture and good carbonation. The aftertaste leaves considerable flavour behind, with tones of cherry jam and wood.
This is a dry, medium-bodied beer that pairs well with Belgian grey prawns and soft cheeses.
