Mont des Cats
Mont des Cats is a Trappist-style ale brewed in collaboration with the monks of Scourmont Abbey, the brewery behind Chimay. Though the Abbey of Mont des Cats sits in northern France, it has had no brewery of its own since 1918—the beer is now produced elsewhere under monastic oversight.
This amber strong ale opens with pleasant caramel malt sweetness, joined by hints of dried fruit and gentle spice. The nose reveals dark fruit, raisin and date character with subtle baking spices. The body is medium to light, with a soft texture and gentle carbonation.
The finish balances the initial sweetness with moderate bitterness, earthy and herbal hop notes lingering on the palate.
