Budějovický Budvar has brewed in České Budějovice since 1895, founded to counter German economic dominance in the city. It is the original Budweiser – a claim that has fuelled decades of legal battles.

The brewery works with just four ingredients: 100% Moravian barley malt, water from an Ice Age aquifer, whole-cone Saaz hops from the Žatec region, and heritage brewing yeast. The result is a classic Czech lager with subtle malt sweetness, floral and citrus hop notes, and a creamy, moderately carbonated mouthfeel.

Budvar matures for 90 days before leaving the brewery – a traditional approach that contributes to its smooth character and balanced profile.
