Pilsener
Amstel Pilsener is the flagship of the historic brewery founded in 1870 on Amsterdam's Mauritskade. Co-founders Charles de Pesters and Johannes van Marwijk Kooy drew inspiration from Bavarian pilsners and harnessed water from the nearby Amstel River for cooling. This classic Dutch pilsner is brewed using traditional methods with pilsner malt and restrained hop additions.
The beer presents as a golden-hued lager with a clean, grainy nose and soft malt character. Medium-bodied with gentle carbonation, it balances pleasant malt sweetness against a mild, dry finish. The bitterness is restrained, making for a crisp, approachable lager without sharp edges.
