masa chai barley wine
Rodinný Pivovar Zichovec, a respected Czech craft brewery, crafts this barrel-aged barley wine by blending three bourbon barrels aged for 30 months and infusing them with Indian masala chai spices and maple syrup. The result is a warming, complex 11% ABV expression that marries the rich, malty foundation of traditional barley wine with cinnamon, cardamom, clove and ginger.
The nose reveals bourbon oak, vanilla and woody undertones layered with subtle spice notes. On the palate, chai spices take centre stage alongside toffee and oak, balanced by the beer's inherent sweetness and the maple addition. The finish is lingering and warming, with a full body and the dry, tannic grip characteristic of extended bourbon barrel maturation.
