Aroniju Ragana
Aroniju Ragana from Labietis is a modern berry ale brewed in Riga, where chokeberry juice is fermented with a wort built on extra light caramel malts. Labietis, founded in 2013, crafts what they call 'Pagan Brews'—beers rooted in Latvian folklore and foraged ingredients.
This ale walks a fine line between sweetness and tartness. The aronia brings a soft, fresh sourness that plays against the caramel backbone, while the nose carries floral and red-fruit undertones. At 5.1% ABV and 11 IBU, it avoids heavy-handed fruitiness in favour of subtle balance—a quiet conversation between malt and berry rather than a shout.
