Alttrankisch Klosterbier
Altfränkisch Klosterbier from Klosterbrauerei Weißenohe is a classic Franconian kellerbier brewed in the monastic tradition. Made with regional Franconian malt and aromatic hops including Hercules, Saphir and Spalter Select, this amber lager strikes a delicate balance between malt sweetness and assertive hop presence.
The taste is surprisingly smooth and elegant for a darker beer: dark bread, melanoidin richness and toasted notes are balanced by a subtle, floral-herbal hop bitterness. Bottom-fermented and matured for an extended period, the beer drinks lighter and crisper than its appearance suggests, with a clean, dry finish.
This underrated classic comes from a brewery rooted in a former Benedictine monastery, family-owned by the Winklers since 1827.
