Bramble Smasher from Holy Goat Brewing is a Scottish mixed fermentation sour brewed with locally grown barley, wheat and oats. The beer spent four months maturing and was blended from four separate batches, each fermented with a different Brettanomyces strain. The brewery conditioned the final blend on 220 grams per litre of Scottish blackberries.

An intense red-purple hue precedes aromas of forest fruit, guava and jammy raspberry. On the palate, hedgerow berries, sweet-sour tannic notes and refined depth combine into a layered fruit character. The mouthfeel is striking: dense, soft and slightly sticky, without the cloying sweetness that defines many sours.

This beer rewards drinking young or cellaring for years to come.
