Fremont Brew 5000 (2021)
Brew 5000 continues a tradition Fremont Brewing established in 2015 with their first barleywine release. This English-style barleywine is built on Maris Otter pale malt and Carafa 2 Special malt, with white wheat adding depth. Following fermentation, the beer matures in 10–15 year old bourbon barrels, which define its deep brown hue and layered character.
On the nose, dark fruit, toffee, oak and vanilla emerge alongside subtle sherry notes. The palate is sweet and full-bodied, with toffee as the dominant flavour. The texture is silky and chewy, with restrained carbonation that complements the barrel aging. A warm, lingering finish invites slow sipping and contemplation.
